The Toryglen Community Blossom Festival takes place on Saturday 3 May, on Glenmore Avenue, from 11am – 4pm.
The inspiration for the event comes from Japanese blossom festivals, and the many cherry blossom trees that line the streets of Toryglen.
The event will be held on the greenspace near the playpark and shops, in marquees and gazebos.
The festival's aim is to explore plants and the environment through the arts and to that end there will be hands on activities for the public to have a go at, such as green woodworking, Feltwork, natural dyes and herbal medicines. All the activities will be run by experienced and qualified artists.
There will also be a small stage with bands - powered by renewable energy, information, refreshments and space to rest.
The event has been organised by the Toryglen Gardening Club and BTCV (www.btcv.org.uk). It has been funded by the Scottish Community Foundation and is supported by Langside College.
