In my last post I said one of the perks of being a community journalist is covering community councils. This is one of the lows - I have to correct my previous post as I've spoken with Cllr Coleshill, who gave me a reason for his absence at the Mount Florida Community Council meeting.
Basically, it was a mix up.
He had miscounted his Tuesdays in January and went along the following week to find the Battlefield East Church Hall empty.
Here's what he said:
“I am sorry to say that I messed up dates. There were five Tuesdays this month and I had only counted four. I popped along the following Tuesday and I could not understand why the hall was dark,” Cllr Coleshill said, “My apologies for miscounting the Tuesdays.”
My apologies for making a mistake first time round. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Mt Florida
I'm sorry I did not go to the Mount Florida community council in January but no discourtesy was intended, I am sorry to say that I messed up counting Tuesdays.
I had miscounted which Tuesday was the 4th Tuesday in January (the 4th Tuesday is the day of the Mt Florida CC). The reason I didn’t apologise for not showing whilst attending another meeting was that I (wrongly) thought there was no clash with the ‘Go Ape' meeting.
I did however think there was a potential clash - according to my counting the Tuesday in the last week of January as the 4th (when it was the fifth) - with the 'Future of Shawlands' meeting - but, since the Mt Florida CC usually start at 7pm I went along intending to crave the meetings indulgence, and speak early so that I could attend the Shawlands meeting (at Langside halls) at 7.30. When I showed up at the church hall I didn't understand why the hall was dark and no one else showed up, but was able to go to the Shawlands meeting in Langside hall earlier than I had expected.
Mike Farrel left a message on my mobile on Friday 1 Feb, (at 6.14pm) asking why I did not attend and I e-mailed this explanation (at 6.38), and I e-mailed the community council at the same time. Paul
