The G42 Community Website at g42.org.uk is designed to let you make the news.
We're really interested in Citizen Journalism. So we've teamed up with Langside College to offer up to 15 local people the chance to get trained up in Citizen Journalism.
The July edition of G42 is online now at our new site www.ourg42.org.uk - take a look, have a read and share your views! News and features include coverage of the moving vigil to mark Queen's Park reopening, Shawlands Academy's award-winning Eco Club, a record-breaking third green flag for Annette Street Primary, and more exclusive revelations from our investigation of southside housing issues.
With Queen's Park on the verge of reopening, local Green councillor Danny Alderslowe is organising a vigil to remember Moira Jones. The service is planned for Saturday morning, 14 June, at 10am.
A Glasgow group has called a vigil to commemorate Moira Jones, the murdered woman found in Queen's Park on 29 May. The vigil, which will take place in George Square at 6pm this Friday, 13 June, will also remember Eleni Pachou, murdered in the city's West End, and other women killed in Glasgow this year.
G42 politicians regularly contribute columns to your community newspaper, keeping you up to date with what they've been doing and saying.
Unfortunately a mistake at the printers this month means our brand new issue of G42 is missing a few of their columns. So many apologies to Southside Central ward councillors and the local MSPs and MPs, and to our readers. But you can read what they had to say at our new website here
Dont miss out on your opportunity to be a member of your local Credit Union.
The Toryglen Community Blossom Festival takes place on Saturday 3 May, on Glenmore Avenue, from 11am – 4pm.
Every month, the print edition of G42 gives all local politicians a space to tell you what they've been working on and share their views on local issues. It's a feature unique to G42, helping you keep track of what your politicians are doing and saying on your behalf.
Lib Dem councillor for Langside, Paul Coleshill, did send an article for our most recent issue on time, but it was swallowed up by cyberspace. It missed the print deadline, but here's what Paul had to say for our March edition:
As a local MSP I would be interested to hear views of local people on the upcoming changes to Crosshill Post Office Branch.
Govanhill Baths Trust Fundraiser is back at the end of the month. For £6 - or £4 concession - you get fed and entertained in the convivial surroundings of McNeil's on Torrisdale St.
Stephen O'Neil, an artist based in Mount Florida, is going to take part in his first exhibition at Montgomery's Cafe in Radnor Street in the Westend.
In my last post I said one of the perks of being a community journalist is covering community councils. This is one of the lows - I have to correct my previous post as I've spoken with Cllr Coleshill, who gave me a reason for his absence at the Mount Florida Community Council meeting.
One of the perks of being a community reporter is that you cover community councils.
Okay, so dragging yourself out the house on a wet and windy Tuesday night to go and listen to people talk about parking problems or the like may not seem the most appetising thing in the world, but as a source of local contacts and stories, community councils are brilliant.
Once upon a time, there was a traditional Mongolian Yurt set up inside Trinity Church, Govanhill for a week of stories from different faiths and cultures, which school kids flocked to from all over the land. Well, from all over G42, really.
Just thought people might be interested in the recent BBC Scotland programme looking at factors charges. You can find out more here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7174631.stm

The Post Office today announced the closure of 24 Post Offices in Glasgow, including the Govanhill office on Allison St.
This is a public meeting for the Southside Festival. The aim of this meeting is to appoint a Steering Group to take a big step towards getting the festival going.
