Strathbungo roundabout

Glasgow City Council's planning committee has narrowly approved plans to place four advertising boards on the Strathbungo roundabout.

The council will get paid by advertising display company Clear Channel UK Ltd for allowing adverts to be placed on the site.

Shawlands & Langside Traffic Scheme

Glasgow City Council has approved a new traffic scheme for Shawlands, Langside and Camphill. There are lots of new yellow lines and one way restrictions. One of the main ideas is to try to stop drivers parking on pavements - especially at junctions. Click on the attachment below to see what's in store!

Tour of G41!

Don't miss the Tour of Britain - coming to G41 tomorrow!

Some of the best riders in the world - including England's Mark Cavendish and Geraint Thomas from Wales, who both made their Tour de France debut this year - will be taking part.
The riders should be coming through the southside from around 2pm. Here's the route: Carmunnock Road (B766), King’s Park Road (B762), Battlefield Road (B766), Langside Avenue (B768), Minard Road (B768), Titwood Road (B768)
Dumbreck Road (B768).
The finish at Glasgow Green is at around 3pm.

Victoria Infirmary Parking Charges

I've just realised that parking charges started at the Victoria Infirmary this week. I think it is a disgrace that they have introduced parking charges. Surely it will just push lots of staff and visitors to park in local streets. I know that staff get cheaper parking based on their wages (staff earning less than £10k will pay £5 a month, those earning between £10k and £30k will pay £25 per month and those earning more than £30k will pay £40 per month). Of course patients and visitors don't get capped charges, no such luck!

Bus stop row

A Shawlands shopkeeper claims his customers have been driven away by a huge 22-metre bus stop right outside his door. Read more in the Evening Times article here.
