Wanted - citizen journalists

When we first started publishing the G41 Newspaper, our website was pretty dull. It basically gave people our contact details and showed them a few of the stories that had been published in that month's paper. But g41.org.uk is a bit different - anyone can use it to make the news.

Get Involved! - Create tags!

Tags
What are tags? They're just words or phrases that you can add to describe any content you add to the website. They're used to help people find things that are of interest to them.

You can see the tags for g41.org.uk on the right hand side of the website near the top. This is called a 'Tag Cloud'. The tags in bigger letters are the ones that people have used the most.

You can add more than one tag at a time, but you have to separate them with a comma. Don't use capital letters, apostrophes or other punctuation in tags.

One-off Events
Do you know about an Event that's happening in G41? Post it on the Events Calendar!
For one-off Events, it couldn't be easier to do.
1. In the Navigation block on the left had side of the page, click on Create Content
2. Then click on Event
3. Put in the Start date, with the time (it's in 24-hour clock format)
4. Put in the End date, with the time
5. Give your Event a title in the Title box
6. Give your Event a tag (see Create Tags below to find out more!)

Blog Entry
What's a blog? Well, put simply, it's an online diary that you can use to tell people about your life, thoughts, hopes, dreams, hates and likes. You can read one here. Pollokshields ward city councillor David Meikle also has a G41 blog here, as does Andrew M here.

Free journalism training!

The G41 Community Website at g41.org.uk is designed to let you make the news.
We're really interested in Citizen Journalism. So we've teamed up with Langside College to offer up to 15 local people the chance to get trained up in Citizen Journalism.
