I was just wondering what people think of the idea of persistent offenders being banned from parks? I spoke to someone today who mentioned that they won't allow their children to go into Queen's Park because of the drunks and trouble makers who frequent it. At a public meeting last night there were similar comments about the park. The police also mentioned that from September they will be able to issue fixed penalty notices for certain offences.
I just wanted to try and stimulate some discussion (come on people stop lurking!!!) and see what people think of the idea. I think I've said before that I'm not a park user, but I don't see why people should be scared to use the park or abused by trouble makers and drunks ask they go for a walk.
I'm not suggesting that someone caught drunk in the park should be banned for life. I am suggesting that if you have been caught drunk in the park more than once you should be banned for life. So 16 years old caught three times and at the age of 65 you have to explain to your grandchildren why you can't take them into the park to feed the ducks! Seriously maybe this could be the next poll? At what point do we say that people have had enough?
