Fast Food Shops

As a resident in Shawlands for nearly 20 years, I can't help notice how the increased amount of fast food shops have had a poor effect on the neighbourhood. Between Moss-Side Road and Langside Avenue, there are four fast food shops, 3 pubs, 1 restaurant, 1 snooker club and 1 cafe. The fast food shops are open until 3 am, but most remain open until business dries up. Their customers ruin the sleep of the residents in the area, and then their's the subject of all the rubbish on our streets in the morning! Glasgow City Council keep renewing these licences because they are unaware of the devastating effect they are having on our area. If all the residents who are disturbed by noisy customers or are bothered by the vast amounts of fast food containers left on our streets, can I please urge them to contact Glasgow City Council Later Hours Catering Division. Or contact Strathclyde Police about the noise if you are experiencing problems with disturbances in the early hours. They are only too happy to take your complaints. If you're like me and feel our Police are too busy to deal with these matters, then think again. I have been assured by the officers at Strathclyde Police that as long as these disturbances are recorded, then they can raise these issues themselves with GCC. Without them, their hands are tied and we will all continue to be disturbed by these thoughtless businessmen/woman who put profit before our rights to peace and quiet at 3 am.

Help deal with these rouge traders and inform the Police or the Council when you are disturbed.

If anyone wants to help raise awareness of this issue, then please contact me through this website.

Many thanks
