The West End has got extra money to help keep the streets safer at weekend nights. Why not Shawlands?

There's no doubt that Byres Road is a busy place. I've had a few drinks in Ashton Lane myself over the years. There are certainly quite a few pubs in the area with late licences.
But I can't think of one nightclub. The nearest one is probably what used to be called Cleopatras on Great Western Road.
Shawlands has got at least three nightclubs. But it's been overlooked again.
Shawlands & Strathbungo Community Council has raised the issue of bringing Nite Zone (why the US spelling by the way?) to the southside on a number of occasions. I think the city council and community planning partnership should look at the issue again.
