Kids playing music on public transport

Just about every time I get on a bus now there seems to be a gang of teenagers sitting at the back playing loud, tinny music to the whole bus. And no one ever says anything - presumably scared of getting spat at or stabbed. But is it just me or is this not something that should be banned by public transport companies, it's so annoying and just plain rude!!!

Saying something can work

I jumped on a bus on Pollokshaws Road some time earlier this year, and had such a racket just behind me. Perhaps because I don't use much public transport (working from home as I do), I turned around and asked the girl in question firmly, but politely, to turn it off (My girlfriend later said I'd said it in such a way as it really didn't leave her with much choice). Turns out it wasn't her phone, so the girl who's phone it was grabbed it back. Peace resumed. But just two young kids on their own are one thing - A whole pack (is nuisance a better collective noun?) of kids would be quite another.

Where I've confronted people, including smokers (down in London), I've frankly been quite shocked by the lack of support I've felt from fellow passengers. But I've been surprised that, in the end, I've generally had results, or at least (in the long run) a feeling of at least having done something about it.

Not sure 'banning it' will do much: Bus drivers rarely get involved in these things in my experience, presuming they even care enough to do so. I've seen some smoking themselves out the window along Paisley Road West, which says a huge amount I fear.

What's required is a lot more than just a sticker on the bus. Real action has to be taken. People kicked off buses at the very least, and drivers (or inspectors) empowered/instructed to take action when complaints are raised.
