City councillors have given the go-ahead to controversial plans to build flats in the High Shawlands area.
The council's Planning Committee voted 8-4 to approve the proposal to build 17 flats on the site of a semi-detached house on Hector Road.
Dozens of local people had written to the council outlining their objections. Shawlands & Strathbungo Community Council also objected, saying that the plans breached council planning policies.
Pollokshields ward councillor David Meikle - who sits on the planning committee - said: "I moved refusal but on a vote it was 8 – 4 with one abstention. The application was granted.
"I actually felt the comments being made by committee members during discussion were moving my way after I asked for a presentation and started off the questioning."
