Parkview Hotel Appeal Refused

Just heard that the Court issued the decision on 24th December and that the appeal against the Committee decision to refuse an HMO licence renewal for the Parkview Hotel was refused. I don't think the war is won but it is another victory against anti-social behaviour in the Queens Park area.

As I understand it McKever can appeal to the Court of Session but he has until late February to do that so don't hold your breath. The Parkview remains open whilst there is any live appeal.

Here come the Clenny Men!!!

OK now does any one know who or what the Clenny Men are? The are coming to Shawlands Academy on Thursday 4th October at 7.30pm. But what for?

Public Meeting

Well my fears of a poor turnout couldn't have been more wrong. I recon that there had to be about 100 people who packed into the hall last night. Thanks to everyone who came especially Cllr Anne Marie Millar, Bailie Jahangir Hanif, Ann Hamilton (Glasgow Community & Safety Services), Supt Mike Dean and Sgt William Eadie. We also had Cllr David Meikle, Cllr Irfan Rabbani and Nicola Sturgeon sent along a representative.

Victoria Infirmary Parking Charges

I've just realised that parking charges started at the Victoria Infirmary this week. I think it is a disgrace that they have introduced parking charges. Surely it will just push lots of staff and visitors to park in local streets. I know that staff get cheaper parking based on their wages (staff earning less than £10k will pay £5 a month, those earning between £10k and £30k will pay £25 per month and those earning more than £30k will pay £40 per month). Of course patients and visitors don't get capped charges, no such luck!

Some people just don't care

Shawlands and Strathbungo Community Council are organising a meeting regarding anti-social behaviour in the area around the Queens Park Hotel. I didn't really know much about the problems residents have encountered so went round and spoke to a couple of people. I find it hard to believe that we live in a society that tolerates some of the stuff that has been going on.

QPH Meeting - CHANGE OF DATE

Sorry about the last minute nature of this but the meeting to discuss anti-social behaviour in the area around the Queens Park Hotel has been rescheduled from 31 July to

Thursday 2nd August at 7pm in
Queens Park Parish Church, 170 Queens Drive.

Sorry for the short notice but it was necessary.
