Vigil for Moira Jones

A Glasgow group has called a vigil to commemorate Moira Jones, the murdered woman found in Queen's Park on 29 May. The vigil, which will take place in George Square at 6pm this Friday, 13 June, will also remember Eleni Pachou, murdered in the city's West End, and other women killed in Glasgow this year.

Shawlands Campaign

The new issue of G41 is out this week, with an update on how things are progressing on the campaign for a town centre plan for Shawlands.

One thing I wasn't able to fit in to the print edition was a letter we received from Rev Fiona Gardner of South Shawlands Church.
We've had the best part of 100 names on our petition handed in by people who've been collecting signatures at the church, and the minister has also taken the time to write to G41, Nicola Sturgeon MSP and Clr Archie Graham (Langside Ward, Labour) listing issues highlighted by members of the congregation. Here's what she said:

How many planning notices make a consultation?

Pollok Park user Bob Downie, writing in The Herald today regarding the proposed Go Ape adventure course, has learned that "only a single planning notice was placed on a lamp-post outside the park on November 9, 2007". The planning department is unable to say how long the single notice was in position.
