Dear All,

As you will be aware the “Save Our Parks” campaign has been running since last year in the East Pollokshields ward where planning applications were lodged for development on Turtle Park (Forth Street/Leslie Street) and Stepping Stones Park (Keir Street/Leslie Street).

The Leslie Street Greenspaces Group considers these parks valuable greenspaces which should not be built on. Our primary aim is to stop any building, and our secondary aim is to see the spaces improved through a well planned and executed community project.

Could we, Leslie Street Greenspaces Group, thank all of you who have helped with the Save Our Parks Campaign, letter writing to the council and any other assistance you may have provided, it has been very appreciated and hope it will be rewarded when the application (Stepping Stones Park - Keir Street/Leslie Street) is presented at the Planning Committee in early January 2008.

As you will be aware about the campaign of Leslie Street Greenspaces Group to Save The Parks.

The official closing date for representations is not later than 21 days from the 9th November, which makes it, Friday 30th November 2007.

To update you, if you are not aware:-

Keir St/Leslie St (Stepping Stones Park - 07/02937/DC) - Application validated on 29/10/07 and consultation responses gone out.

Please note the deadline for objections has been extended again by the planning department

Currently, the deadline for objections to the council is 16th November 07.
This has been extended again due to a delay in Southside Housing finalising the plans with the planning department.

As mentioned on 22nd September 07, http://www.southsidemedia.org/g41/node/1982 , Southside Housing has applied for permission to build on the green spaces on the corners of Leslie and Forth Street and Leslie and Keir Street.

The decision has not yet been made by the council as to whether or not to allow this.

You CAN influence this decision and stop the building.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT...................others greenspaces are also under threat if these planning applications are approved, so please help and put in your letters of objection by Friday 5th October 2007..........the clock is running.............

Plans have recently been submitted by Southside Housing Association for buildings to be constucted on the green sites on the corners of Leslie Street and Forth Street, and Leslie Street and Keir Street. These are council-maintained grassy sites with large mature trees and shrubs.
