BACK TO SCHOOL!

For some children the start of a new school year gives a sense of familiarity and stability, however for others it can be a daunting time, which can bring anxiety. This is particularly true if it is the start of a year that culminates in important exams. Many pupils will feel nervous and pressurised as demands on them increase.

Whilst talking through problems, identifying troublesome subjects and asking a teacher for extra work can reduce anxiety, many parents are now looking beyond school for additional support in the form of supplementary education.

Local festival Bungo in the Back Lanes celebrates its tenth year this month.

A forest of remembrance in Scotland

By 2006 some 35,000 native trees have been planted on the Holy Island off the west coast of Scotland. Many of these have been dedicated to or planted in memory of a loved one.

Bouquets of flowers will fade and die. The trees will be a living tribute
